Welcome to Side Street!

Hi everyone!
I've dedicated this little corner of the web to Side Street, or as some of you may know as "The Coffee Shop". Under each tab you'll find all the hard work and research that I poured into this project, with links to hidden gems along Maine's coast and organizations for those who are in need of guidance and don't quite know where to get it. I update the pages frequently, so check back often! Thanks for stopping by!

The Characters

Cast of Characters:

Major characters

Caleb Vaughn
Caleb is the protagonist of this story. He is brave, he is intelligent, he is resourceful, and it doesn't hurt that he's physically attractive. He is also the underdog, the dark horse even, which only adds to his appeal. But, if I were being honest, this is not the Caleb from the beginning of the story. Caleb in chapter one is scared, bitter, cynical, and cold. In the real world, he is based on many people of whom I have met that have come from dark family backgrounds that horrify me to know that are almost commonplace now. Hopefully my rendition of him will serve him justice.

Peyton Gray
Peyton, humorously, is dedicated to my grandmother. My Grandmother is the kind of woman in the family who gets cranky when she can't help other people. She is kind, charitable, adorable and absolutely insane, which only adds to her charm. Peyton is based on her almost completely (though I've taken out the nutty part and handed that bit over to Lola), though Peyton's looks are derived entirely from a girl who sat next to me in my Physics class in college. She was extremely beautiful in her own way, which makes her appealing to write about as a person. Peyton is also based upon my sister, who had suffered from an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. It's taken her years to get past the cruelty he dealt her, but she's in a great place now and hasn't looked back.

  • Personal heroes: Charlie Chaplin, Queen Elizabeth I, and Mary Shelley
  • Guilty pleasures: animal commercials, Dairy Queen blizzards, fluffy romance novels, and "I Love Lucy"
